Enjoy a Guided tour of World Heritage listed Fraser Island, the worlds largest sand island. Departing daily from Hervey Bay as well as from Rainbow Beach you can choose from a 2
or 3 day Cool Dingo tour.
Specifically designed for 18 to 35 year old travelers the Cool Dingo tour offers backpacker hostel style quad share or twin/double accommodation at their hostel in Wilderness Lodges at the rear of fabulous Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island.
4WD Tour Itineraries
Basin Lake - check out beautiful basin lake and make friends with some of the numerous fresh water turtles living there.
Central Station - explore the cool peaceful ancient rainforest and marvel at Wanggoolba Creek as it winds it's way without a sound through the rainforest floor.
Wanggolba Creek - look for freshwater eels and giant King Ferns as you take the hike to Pile Valley.
Pile Valley - Take in the palms and giant Satinay trees on this rainforest walk.
Lake McKenzie - relax on a pure white sandy beach and crystal clear water at this world famous location. Have a refreshing swim during the afternoon before returning to Kingfisher Bay resort.

Rise early for the drive along the seventy five mile beach, Fraser Islands highway. Check out the surf, birds and keep your eye open for the Fraser Island Dingo and sharks in shallow water.
Eli Creek - immerse yourself in fresh water that has taken over 100 years to filter through the sands of Fraser Island. Eli creek water is up there with the most pure in the world which empties up to 80 megalitres into the ocean every day.
Maheno Shipwreck - shipwrecked in 1935 the Maheno has been used as target practice by our air force and thankfully they didn't hit it much so you can explore this modern day tourist attraction.
The Pinnacles Coloured Sands - shaped by the wind and with orange and red ochres and creams the Pinnacles is an aboriginal womens business meeting place in days gone by. Fascinating shapes and colours within the sands.
Indian Head - named by Captain Cook who saw the aboriginal Butchulla people looking at his ship as he explored Australia. Keep your eyes peeled for sharks and sea turtles as well as big stingrays in the water below.
Champagne Pools - safe ocean swimming here relax as the waves break over the rocks and cool off in the ocean. Take an optional joy flight taking off and landing from the beach with Air Fraser.

Lake Wabby - Take the bush walk into beautiful Lake Wabby one of Fraser Islands favourite swimming spots with visitors. Lake Wabby slowly being swallowed by a giant sand blow.
Hammerstone Sandblow - Trek back to the eastern beach over the giant Hammerstone Sandlblow.
Eurong Beach Resort - we stop for an all you can eat buffet lunch at Eurong Beach resort on the beachfront at Eurong.
Lake Birrabeen - the final destination of your 3 days exploring Fraser Island. Lake Birrabeen is memorable for sparkling clear waters and white beaches, a great way to finish the tour!

After a comfort stop at Eurong Beach Resort you are able to travel on to finish in Rainbow Beach or return to Kingfisher Bay Resort and catch the barge back to Hervey Bay arriving there around 5.00pm. You will then be transfered to your mainland accommodation.
If you are starting in Hervey Bay and want to finish in Rainbow Beach you must give advance notice when booking.

You can package this with a Whitsundays sailing trip. People usually travel from Fraser Island to Airlie Beach with the Greyhound Bus service. There are no direct flights. You would arrange this yourself online with Greyhound. It takes a full days travel between Fraser Island and the Whitsundays however you are traveling.
